It represents an important contribution to oil spill contingency systems in shallow waters such as harbors and near coastal areas. NOFI Current Buster® 2 is already in use by many spill control organizations all over the world.

Excellent maneuverability and compact design make the NOFI Current Buster® 2 ideal for oil collection in harbors and fjords. In addition to the capability to operate in shallow waters, the NOFI Current Buster® 2 can operate in water currents of up to 3 knots. Even at this relatively high speed, the system can collect both high and low viscosity oils, including diesel (this ability has been well documented in comprehensive tests carried out at the OHMSETT test tank, USA). The NOFI Current Buster® 2 can be stored either on a reel or packed, for instance on a pallet.

Single-vessel operation

The NOFI Current Buster® 2 can be towed by two vessels or by one single vessel using a BoomVane system. This towing configuration gives the operator many advantages such as reduced response time, increased maneuverability, better operating and safety conditions for the user and reduced costs due to the use of one vessel only.
