A biodegradable solution to oil spills
Ecosorb® Oil skirted sorbent booms, manufactured from premium materials by Markleen, are a highly versatile and effective product for the protection and removal of oil spills in harbours and sheltered waters. They combine the protection provided by a containment boom with the efficiency of a sorbent. The booms come in a bulk product sack made from 117 recycled bottles, which is also used for storing and transporting the sorbents once soiled.
The booms feature a sorbent side to deal with the spill, and on the opposite side a ballasted skirt for additional protection. Their high absorption capacity, ease of connection and light weight make them suitable for a multitude of spill cases of different sizes. They are equipped with high-strength metal connectors to form the desired length.
In keeping with our goals of caring for the environment, innovation and creativity in all our processes, the Markleen team manufactures a range of sorbents using biodegradable vegetable fibres.
Markleen manufactures a wide range of marine and industrial sorbents and the Ecosorb® skirted sorbent boom is just one example of what we can offer. Our standard sizes are sections of 6 metres or 12.5 metres, but we can adapt to specific needs.
